A good number of car enthusiasts have a preference for manual transmission since it provides them further control over their vehicle. Manual transmission also permits them to economize on gas. Then again, a great clutch is required to suit that. The clutch is a subpart of a vehicle’s manual transmission, a unit that connects and disconnects the engine to the vehicle’s gearbox and transports torque to the car’s transmission within nanoseconds.

The clutch kit is equipped with a clutch friction disc or a clutch disc, and a clutch pressure plate. However, some clutch kits also contain pilot bearings or pilot bushings. The pressure plate includes springs, a clutch plate, release fingers, and a cover. There are two kinds of pressure plates; the spring kind pressure plate and the diaphragm kind. Among the two, the diaphragm kind pressure plate is the most utilized.

The clutch disc meanwhile, is a disc made from metal that guides the circulation of power among the transmission and the engine alongside the flywheel and the pressure plate. A majority of clutch kits possess one or more friction disc. Clutch kits with more than one friction discs have the discs compressed firmly as one contrary to the flywheel by means of the springs.

Common clutch discs are padded with asbestos. This improves the hold among the disc and the flywheel. Trucks and race cars, however, employ the use of ceramic for their clutch discs to amplify friction. You can get a BMW Z Series clutch kit at your local BMW auto parts store.
